My England by Clifford Oliver

directed by Carole Pluckrose

with commentary by Neville Lawrence OBE

An international 'friendly' at Wembley. Two British fans prepare to watch their team. When team loyalty explodes into aggressive nationalism things get out of hand. As the police try to keep control, the two strangers find themselves in a cell together. One black, one white, the characters present two opposing, and at times chilling views of their England.

Background to this video

Originally sponsored by HSBC Bank plc, My England has been specially created by Arc Theatre for use within the Citizenship and PSHE curriculum. Although the full video resource pack is now sold out (see publications), My England is still available as a live Forum theatre workshop programme for schools and educational agencies, while Neville Lawrence is often available to visit schools with My Story - sharing his personal experiences in a positive way, using My England as a starting point for discussion.
