Barking & Dagenham Youth Theatre receives Jack Petchey Award and announces new spring show!

Our Youth Theatre members received a great boost to the New Year with news of special funding from the Jack Petchey Foundation*. A prestigious Silver Achievement Award 'recognising effort, endeavour and achievement in a practical and positive way', means that every three months, one young person will be elected by the group to receive a framed certificate and a medallion at the annual Awards Ceremony.

In addition, each award-winner will be able to choose how the quarterly £600 grant is used to benefit their group as a whole - which could mean anything from recording equipment or Youth Theatre tshirts, to theatre trips for the members!

As a result of recent nominations, we are delighted to announce that our first Achievement Award goes to long-term member, 16 year-old James Kennedy, who was nominated in particular for his 100% hard work and dedication, regular attendance, enthusiasm, friendliness and for his clear and strong performances in last year's productions. Well done James!

A mob of lively teenagers from underprivileged backgrounds are let loose on a school trip to the countryside. ‘Our Day Out' is a tender tale using comedy and pathos to mirror real-life, from the writer of ‘Blood Brothers' and ‘Educating Rita'.
