If you are aged 12 or over and enjoy performing, Barking & Dagenham Youth Theatre is looking for you! After the huge success of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at The Broadway Theatre and Arc's Malthouse Studios and the recent productions of Stephen K Patterson's Guide to a Perfect Life and All Tuned In, Arc is now inviting new members to join its committed team of young people for weekly rehearsals working towards the next exciting production in 2010.
Funded by the Borough, Barking & Dagenham Youth Theatre was formed in 2002 to offer new opportunities for young people to learn drama and presentation skills alongside professional actors. With ten main productions ranging from Shakespeare to Willy Russell and a host of other special performances under its belt, Barking & Dagenham Youth Theatre meets weekly to develop acting skills and drama techniques, including voice-work, improvisation, script-reading, character development and team-building activities.
As well as the chance for members to win the special 'Jack Petchey Outstanding Achievement Award', Barking & Dagenham Youth Theatre also offers the opportunity to take part in a variety of other youth projects, which have included filming at The Malthouse with the LBBD Regeneration team, a road safety film with Hi8us for LBBD, a residential drama week at Wicken House in Essex, a range of performances for the borough's Molten festival and an outreach project with the Tower of London.
